Water testing kit.

I have been searching for 3 days for a complete water testing kit but I can't find one anywhere here in Mexico. The best I can do is to buy each one separate. They are like 20 dollars each one and I don't have enough cash. Could I get away with buying the ammonia test first to see how the cycle is going and to make sure the water is ok or do I need to know about the ph, nitrates etc aswell?

Oh that sucks Are you not able to order in things online?
If you're starting from scratch, ammonia is def the best one, but down the line you will at least need nitrAtes and I imagine NitrItes

They ship this internationally, shame you can't get the API Freshwater kit though:
