I have been battling this problem for a while and none of my LFS have even seen or heard of this. It’s unlike any kind of slime I’ve seen before. I have two adult lotls in a 40 gallon breeder and two smaller lotls in a 30 tall. Filter for 40 gallon is a Penguin 350 and for the 30 tall is a Fluval 70. The slime first appeared in the 40 and before I knew what was going on has spread uncontrollably thru the tank. I would do PWC on a daily basis and it would only slow it down some. I’ve taken both tanks down and rinsed the tanks and filters with hot water completely while the lotls were in small containers temporarily. I thought this fixed it but about 10 days later the tanks seemed to started getting cloudy and then it’s back. It’s not a normal cloudy like from bacterial blooms or over feeding or anything like that. When it’s in water that’s stagnant I noticed it even grows a vein like structure on the surface. It’s a thick slime that can clog the filter pipe after just a few days. Please I’ve got my babies in a hospital tanks treating with triple sulfa and even after 6 doses over 6 days the slime is still present in my hospital tank. Only saving grace is they look healthy, please help indentify this :(
