I have no idea about what to put in my tank. I'm very new to the hobby so I'd like to see what you all think.

A ten gallon has pretty limited choices, but you could probably have a betta or some guppies... Try googling "nano fish." I hope this helps. Oh, and welcome!

I started with guppies in a 10 gallon. I think they're really neat looking and fun to watch.

Some fish you could look into:

Betta
Dwarf puffer (although not really a beginner fish)
Sparkling gourami
Honey gourami
Celestial pearl danios
Dwarf emerald rasboras
Ember tetras
Chili rasboras (or any of the many micro rasboras)
Endlers
Least killifish
Pygmy sunfish
Clown killifish
Gertrudae rainbowfish (and several other blue eyed rainbows)
Pygmy/dwarf cories
Dwarf shrimp such as red cherry shrimp

Many also just do something like 6 neon tetras or harlequin rasboras.

I have my Betta in a 10g with ADF and some ghost shrimp. You would be surprised how much bettas come alive when they have all that swimming space rather than just a little bowl :)

Personally I wouldn't do CPDs in a 10g, in my experience they really like their swimming space.

Shellies are a great idea!

I've got 5 guppies and a dwarf gourami in mine, super fun to watch. You could prob fit another guppy or two.
