What happened to my brevis....

What happened to his mouth? He was alpha male for 2months and over a period of 2 weeks, that happened to him... What is happening? Anyone has a clue? He is paired up with another brevis and tankmates with 2 other brevis and a yellow calvus and a masked Julie and 3 ghost shrimp. The tank is a 15gallon long. There are about 16 shells in there which the calvus occupies one. There are 2 caves for the Julie as well....
