What is this algae?

I have watched this slowly grow in my tank over the last few months. I compared it with the green algae pictures in Hargreaves' book, but nothing in there really matches what I have. The pictures there are describe filamentous, feathery stuff, or broad blades or bubble-like growths.

What I have in the tank is just a slowly growing mass. Each little structure looks like a miniature "T." Here are two pictures of it, sorry they are not clearer. But you can get an idea of its size with the damsel.

i have found a single green bubble on one of my rocks and i have started to get purple growth all over my rock and plastic, i clean my glass.
