What kind of algae is this and how can I culture it?!?!

I was browsing through videos and I found this video with a beautiful strain of algae that the uploader is unsure of what it is. Does anybody know? And if so, how can it be cultured?

Is it safe for Cichlid aquariums? Will it take over my tank? I can find very little information on Google...

I've had this crop up in one of my tanks before. From what I can gather from a quick google scan and my personal experience, it's one of MANY brush algae species. It appears to like good light and hard water. It showed up in my tank when I neglected the tank for several weeks.

I broke down the entire tank several months ago. It was growing on a chunk of wood that is now in my closet.

Dead as a doornail.
