What kind of pleco is this?!?!

I got him or her at the LPS and it didn't say what kind.

Looks like my bristlenoses. He's a young one right?

But it doesn't have bristles and if it's a female bristlenose it should still have those little bristles.
 
Not if it's a young female , and sometimes not at all, the bristles are used in males for breeding
 
I think it's a male when males are young do they have bristles?
 
No, I've got 6. Only one is just starting to show a tiny bit of bristle growing - it's the biggest one (around 3 inches, the rest are about 2 inches max). That's the one in the picture. You can see his little bro or sis in the background.
 
Another way to know... How much did you spend? In my LFS, BN's are about £7 each and are the cheapest available. Others are much more expensive. I don't know how it is in US or other parts of the world (sorry, don't know where you are!).

It's a female bristlenose females don't have bristles at all just look at mine!

Full grown and no bristles at all!
 
Clowns are stripy though aren't they? Google search says yes. This has stripy fins but a spotty body. My bnp's have stripy fins and spotty bodies.
