What size would be better?

For a beginner, what size freshwater tank would be better?
A 10 gallon or a 20 gallon?......I think a 20 would be easier, but I wanted to make sure.

Bigger is always easier to maintain water quality. I would definitely go with the 20.

Try to go with a 20g long rather than a 20g high

Mebbid is right, larger is easier to keep stable, many people start small and struggle. Get the largest your space will allow and that you are comfortable with.
