After we returned fish to LFS, what will they do with the fish ?
1. resell, if the fish is in good condition (color, size, etc) and healthty ?
2. feed to bigger fish if the condition is not good ?
3. just let the fish die if it is not healthy ?

There are two LFS near my house, one is totally not accepting fish return and the other one is accepting fish almost in any condition, even the fish bought from other LFS.

Probably 1 and 3 ... I would think ... well for number three ... I would hope they'd try to heal in a QT tank ... if they have a QT tank.

petco told me they would take my fish if they have tank space. I get like 5 to 10 fry per month or 2

I would sell them again. This may mean pricing them to effectively give them away. Things like large common plecos would be $10, the cheapos that want to stock tanks with that kind of stuff would jump on that and take them off my hands.

I know the LFS in my town definitely re-sell returned fish.

Whenever I visit my local LFS, there are many LARGER fish (silver dollars, oscars, angelfish etc..) that people have traded because they outgrew their tank.
They command a high selling price too and people happily buy them - including myself !
