My wife and I just got a inexpensive UV sterilizer for our tank. It has a small nozzle on the very top which attaches to a airhose which hangs over the side of the tank ( no air pump ). When on there are thousands of tiny bubbles exiting the out flow nozzle. I have two questions:
1. Why would you need air bubbles in a completely submersible UV sterilizer?
2. Would there be any way to stop or at least decrease the amount of bubbles?

Thanks,

Sounds like a built in diffuser alot of people use them instead of air pumps eheim do one that attaches to the outlet of a filter if it is you can just block it off to stop the bubbles hope this helps

Some power heads come with these too. It's just for adding some aeration without the need for an air pump. If the nozzle is below the water line then just remove the hose, if not then plug the hose with a golf tee or something. The power head I have has a valve on the end of the hose witch allows you to adjust the airflow.
