he told me he used aragonite sand but looking at it and what i saw in the lfs it looks more like crushed coral to me. looking at the side of the tank it has about a 3 inch sand bed and all the finer particles are settled to the bottom.
it has a lot of broken shell in it too.

Those first shots look like aiptasia and that's a neat name for the snail...
