whitish-pale gold granular material in tank

Hello Everyone! - I have a whitish-pale gold granular material coating the gravel and decor in my 20 ga tank - There is also a film with very small whitish stuff coating the glass. I had done a major water change and clean-up from brown algae that took over a couple of weeks ago. Tank looked great - water clear - now this granular stuff came on with the film and very small whitish material. There are 3 small ciclids in the tank. Any ideas what this could be and how to get rid of it? A couple of the fish are hanging at the top which is different behavior as they usually stay on the bottom. Thanks for any assistance!
