Why do Discus like WARM TEMPERATURES?

discus like the water temperature much higher than most tropical fish - above 80F.

Does anyone know the reason for this?
 
Evolution, my friend. Genetic mutations that are beneficial to one's survival in a particular environment. They're from the warmer water of Amazon River basin, they've evolved to thrive in warmer temperature. The ones that can survive in that particular environment got to procreate, and the others just died out.
