I was moving some crypts from one tank to another and I planted one but I didn't like where it was so I took it out of the substrate but when I did the roots came off and they stayed in the substrate so I replanted just the leaves. And my question is if the roots will grow new leaves or the leaves will grow new roots or both or neither?

The 'plant' is the rhizome. The rhizome will grow more leaves and roots, but the leaves and roots wont grow a new rhizome.
