I'm using PURA filtration pad. I dose alk right above the pad before it goes through the return pump. Will the pad absorb the alk making it not effective or will it not make a difference.

The main elements mag , ca , alk will not be effected.

Is there any reason why you not running pad at beginning of filtration.

If you dosing alk what is your ca , mag reading

Hello Marty.
I have a red sea max C-130 My return pump is the last chamber before the main tank. I don't use a media basket so the filter sponge is the only thing I have which is located right above the return pump. I placed the filtration pad on top of the filter sponge. My alk is dosed right in that chamber. My mag is 1340,cal is 470 and my alk is 9dkh. I use red sea coral pro salt. My alk seems to be the only thing that drops in the tank. I only dose 2ml a day so that's not much at all.

Your calcium is out of balance should be around 420ppm with a KH of 9

To bring alk in balance of CA at 470 would be a KH of 15 !! Which is far to high.

Any sponge in a marine tank not good they harbour nitrates a pad however is okay to polish water as it gets changed often.

I use RSCP myself and I mix 1910g per 50L and get an SG of 1.026

What is your coral stock at present.

How often are you doing a waterchange.
