Just starting my first FOWLR tank. I want to purchase Key Largo dry rock from Marcorocks. Since it is a new tank I will cure it in the DT. I have read conflicting articles about dry rock and want to make sure that this rock will become live rock. Dry rock is cheaper than live rock and will allow me to work at own pace rather than put it in the tank or sump as soon as I get it as I am still waiting for equipment to come in. I will also add aragonite sand to the tank and begin to cure and run a cycle.

The only thing that makes rock "live" is the bacteria that lives on and in it. If dead dry rock goes through a cycle, it will be "live" at the end.

I grot my rrocks from MarcoRocks too!! Very nice. It was strange getting a box of rocks in the mail!! My BF thinks I'm nuts! I'm getting some spots of corraline now ....8 months in!
