Yellow labs are sexually monomorphic, so you will have to vent the fish to find out the sex

Okay thank you that's all I needed to hear!!! I was in argument with someone they thought they knew 100% that they had a male and I had a female they were convinced if the bottoms fins have black it's male and if they have no black like mine in the picture it was female.

I have like one of my 10 labs that has the black lower fins and i do think that it's male (alpha male coloration?) but just because it doesn't have that black fin color doesn't mean it's not male. I'm just guessing though, haven't vented any off them.

From what I heard black fins used to be how to tell and you can still tell that way with wild caught but with poor breeding and the popularity of the fish much of the black has been bred out.
