I'm thinking of adding a small yellow tang into my mix. I have a 40G tank with 2 percula clowns and 4 damsels. If I had to lose a couple of the Damsels to make room for the tang I would. Any thoughts?

Sorry, a Yellow Tang requires a lot of swimming room and I suggest at least a 75 gallon for them.
The general rule of thumb is 2" of adult size fish per 10 gallon. As it is now, you are pretty close to the limit.
