Afra coloring up?

Hi I have had a few Afra for about a year now. They are bout 2 inches long now and have been spawning regularly. The dominant male is not turning blue like I think it should be. Stays mostly gray with barring when it is excited... Any ideas how or when he will color up?

They do have nice color but they're not cynotilapia, they're Metriaclima lombardoi.

Yep that's a male and female Kenyi all right.

I purchased the blue female and it was labeled peacock, I thought it may be kenyi, within minutes of adding female it mated and is now holding, is a wave maker something I need ?? I have an underground with an external filter.

So any info on the Afra would be cool I feed the tank nls exclusively should I feed something different? It is an all mbuna tank with a hi fin cat
