I have a ice blue zebra cichlid with a few other african cichlids and my ice blue is holding eggs in her mouth. Do they ever hold the eggs if they arent fertilized? I only have the one ice blue zebra in thier so if i get living fry they will be cross breeds right?

So after alot of researching i still cant differentiate between the males n fenales.. egg spots? They all look like they have spotted fins so im missing something thier lol... but im gonna let her have the fry in the main tank and let nature take its course as they are obviously gonna be cross breeds.

I have the same thing happening in my lake Malawi tank but I know who the father is. I have a male jacobfreibergi peacock who has breed with my female Ruby crystal peacock. The first batch of eggs was unfortunately eaten by the other fish, the second batch of eggs is being mouth brooded by the female now.

Finntastic thats so cool i hope you get fry this time :)... and thanks hukit that link was also very informative. Im not sure if she is still holding it looks like she either ate all or most of the eggs because she was eating the flakes i fed today and she hasnt ate at all the whole last week
