I just got my shipment of liverock like a day and a half early; awesome! The only thing is that I didn't have time to prep my other tank for the early arrival. I'm asking because the salinity is about 1.017. I will be going to Petsmart in a couple of hours but wanted to know if low salinity right off the bat is going to be detrimental.

And it's Fancy fused and Vanuatu liverock, 30lbs of each.

If it`s just LR you`ll be OK. Just when you need to add for evaporation just add SW instead till it gets up there.

Just depends on how much life on the rock you want to keep alive. If its a new tank then the cycle will kill a lot of it. You could keep the salinity the same and just change it slowly over a few days or just change it right away. Either way won't do anything bad I don't think, just alter how long your cycle is.
