Water out of dehumidifier..... can it be used?

I know the water out of the unit is distilled but is it ok to use for water changes? Maybe I'll collect and test some of the water. Any insight would be appreciated.

May seem like a good idea, but you do get a lot of gunk from the air flowing through the condensation coils and sticking to them which will end up in the water. I'd vote no.

I say no aswell..... If you can imagine the water would contain all the pollution in the air...
Yes it's pure at evaporation, but once exposed to the out side air it's contaminated.

That's a good question too. I just installed one in my house because of the humidity inn the area and the size of my tank. The manual says not to use the water anything else other than watering plants and even then that's not strongly recommended.

I'd vote no also because of the contaminents from the coils also. But hey, you're thinking!

Just thought I'd add that my dehumidifier came with a warning to never drink or otherwise consume the water it collects. If we can't drink it, our fish probably can't live in it.

Running it through an RO/DI filter might make it ok but I would think that there would be so much junk in that water (compared to your tap water) that it would require changing your filter media more often and end up just not being worth it.
