Hey everyone, my well established 20 gal is experiencing a minicycle, I think.
I left for thanksgiving weekend, tested last tuesday before I left, Amm 0, Trites 0, Trates 40, pH 8.4. My nephew kept an eye on my fish for me, fed once per day, don't think he overfed. I checked my water parameters this morning when I got home (5 days), and got Amm 0, Trites 0.25, trates 160, pH 8.2! I did a 50% PWC, vacuumed the substrate, and cleaned the plants. Anything else i can do to prevent further deterioration? I've never had this happen before.
My current stock is 6 glodanios, 1 glotetra, 2 headlight/tail-light tetras, 1 bleeding heart tetra, 1 neon, 1 glass, 1 platy, and 1 clown pleco. I know the stock list isn't ideal, but these are rescues from other tanks, and what's left after an ich die off about a year ago.
