Anyone seen one of these filters before?

It looks like there is an overflow into the intake tube, but does that mean this thing only pulls water from the surface?

The description says it pulls from three levels. I might get one just for the surface skimming

It takes in water from the bottom, middle, and surface of the tank.

Perhaps I should take reading lessons. I wonder how that works. To suction properly or efficiently, I'd imagine they would have to be different tubes. I'd like to see one in action.
