Temporarily until the angels reach adult size. They might get eaten.

They should be fine. They get bigger than a neon so they don't fit in the angels mouths. I have cardinals in with my angels and I have had no issue yet.

I've seen large schools of Cardinals with Angels in well planted tanks.
Angels that grow up with them and have a big group of Cardinals seem fine in large enough tanks.
