Community fish.... boring?

i set up a 30 gallon tank with black skirt tetras, cardinal tetras and guppies and one betta.

nothing seems to be going on in there. they dont swim through any of the rock work or anything, they just hang out on top waiting for food. is this typical?

im just use to my cichlids always swimming around and interacting, almost as if they have personality

You have some pretty peaceful fish. Especially compared to cichlids. You'll find these fish have personality, too. It just takes more time to see it.

all my tetra swim around very activly. maybe thats becuase i have a few more agresive fish in my tank.

the communities i have put together have been active. that size of school did you put them in?
