Driftwood

A few months ago I bought a thick piece of driftwood, but recently I have decided to take it out and redecorate my tank with rocks, however I do want to keep the wood for the next tank I buy which will be next year as I am moving out next year. My question is, if I take it out and let it dry, will it begin to rot quickly or will it be ok still

It'll still be ok. I bought a used aquarium from someone and it came with driftwood that hadn't been used in years.
