I've search the forums and I haven't really seen this addressed. My FW tank has an overflow and sump that moves about 400 gallons an hour. My problem is when I feed my fish flake food it's almost immediately sucked into the overflow. What's the best way to feed my fish flake food without turning off my filtration system?

The only thing I can think of is to turn off the filtration system or turn it down. We have a similar problem feeding our eels frozen bloodworms. By the time they get to it, most of it has sucked up in the filtration. We just simply feed away from the intake tube or unplug the unit while they are eating.

I have a small tank, so I'm not sure this is relevent, but I unplug my filter and air pump every time I feed my fish. The floating food tends to get sucked downward and the fish dont' really have much time to eat because the food is floating or sinking all over the tank.
