My son just got another fiddler crab, after one died, probably as they are sold as freshwater creatures. He now uses salt, but noticed that a new crab seems to be missing a leg. I read that they regenerate legs, about how long does that take? Thanks

What kind of salt does he use? The leg will grow back after a few molts and how fast the crab molts depends on how old it is. The younger the crab the faster he molts. Sometimes a crab molts onve a week when young and when old it could take a month or more for a molt. Does he have access to land and how big is the tank?

My redclaw lost a leg once took it a while to grow back.

They molt every few weeks to months, depending on age and health. One of my fiddlers only had 3 legs and a claw at one point, and is now completely regenerated. It takes some time, and they need a good environment though. If it's just one leg, I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if he starts dropping more, then something is wrong.
