Im about 5 weeks into fishless cycling a 55 gallon tank using pure ammonia. The ammonia is being converted pretty quickly and my nitrites and nitrates are off the charts. Should i be doing pwcs to keep the nitrite levels down or is it better to leave them high.? I have only been adding small amounts of ammonia to keep the nitrite at a reasonable level. Ph has been steady around 7.2. Any input would be appreciated. I feel im getting close and i want to make sure im doing the right things to finish up. Thanks!

Depends how often you are adding. Once you see nitrites I would recommend only 2ppm ammonia every 3-4 days so that your nitrites aren't insane. If you feel like your nitrites have been high for a long time, a PWC wouldn't hurt anything. It might not help, but it also might not hurt, so why not.
