Gourami kills female then himself?

My tank parameters
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 10ppm
Ph is 7.4

I had one male, one female powder blue Gourami. I am almost positive the male bullied the female to death. She died two weeks ago. I found the male dead tonight.

Neither of them had white spots, cloudy eyes, looked fat,bloated, or poofy. They both seemed perfectly healthy.


Does any have any explanation?

The tank is a 20gal long
Aquatop cf300 canister
Also have 2 dalmation jollies and one peppermint Platy
 
Yes. Males have pointed dorsal fins and females have rounded dorsal fins. I had one of each
 
It's pretty common for the male to pick on the female as well. Does your tank have a lot of hiding places? I'm sorry but I can't figure out why the male passed... :/
 
Yes. All sorts of plants and a ship. The other fish never chased him around. So it's not that.
