Hey guys my 55 gallon is housed in my girlfriends bedroom....and she notices that it carries a foul odor sometimes.... She also notices that it somehow intensifies a bit when the light is on.... Wierd, but I kinda noticed it too... Any advice will be greatly appreciated...

water changes. that's really the best thing you can do. some say carbon works, but IMO if you're getting a smell, you're not doing enough water changes

you could also not be cycled and your smelling ammonia. do you test your water? if so post some results. how long has this tank been up?

It's been up for a while...probably more than 6 months..,. Well I have 6 fish in there... 3 blood parrot a fieemouth and 2 yellow belly barbs..I change water every 1-2 weeks and I usually take at least 50% of the water out

you might could try and swish your filter cartlidge around in some old TANK water.s sometimes they stink

Water changes and new carbon filters squeezed in with the old ones of course :)
