Hunting for driftwood.

I'm heading out towards the area of the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri for a family reunion we do a float trip "camping/kayaking/rafting" in a river up there. Don't remember what it's called but its surrounded by beautiful cliffs and the water is super clear. Last year the bus driver who drove us out for our trips name was "Hitler" holy scary.



Anyways and I was wondering it anyone had any ideas where and what I should be looking for in that region thanks !

Most any wood you find will be okay as long as it's well weathered and not rotting.

Based on the piece I just bought I noticed it almost seems petrified rock hard. Would that be an indicator that its a good piece ?

Yeah, the denser a wood is, the better it will be for an aquarium. usually. You probably bought mopani wood which is one of the best woods for aquariums.

It was Malaysian drift wood I've boiled it about 7 times untill the water almost runs out and it's still Still leaching out brown water !

i used to go around tabel rock lake picking it up or down river below the dam also. i live there for 18 years
