is this algae or my java moss?

Not sure but all of a sudden this has sprang up. I've had Java moss for about 8 months with little growth but the last month either it or algae has rapidly grown.

I can't tell for certain because the pics aren't the best. Could you pull a bit of it out and put it on a flat surface for better ID? My first feeling was beard algae but a picture that is more clear will help with a positive identification.

that looks like cladophora or green hair algae, it's not java moss for sure.

Is it worth getting rid off? My cherry shrimp seem to love it.

It can be unsightly but it's not going to hurt anything.
