"driving this point home" this morning!!!

I'm putting up 4 pix:

I don't even see anything special or colorful about the glofish....the only thing is that they glow at night....at night when for most of it you are asleep???

Nope; I don't see the big deal. Thats a lot of money for a pretty unimpressive fish.

Ah well. Think they need to return these guys to the medical field.

Well I love mother nature and her cool children, but I must admit I am a science/technology freak. My problem with this technology is that this making fish "glo") isn't so much a benefit to survive at all, may even be a hinderance. Messing with humans for better living or surival is okay by me, but I can't say I agree much with these new fish because its for people who want more "beauty" in what they they already should find georgeous... my two cents :p

I think the neon tetras are much prettier than the glofish.

If they are going to genetically engineer something, wouldn't it be great if they could make fish resistant to diseases like ich and columnaris?

An t-iasg....

Also, Excellent point..... that's where I think their efforts should be spent, also!!

Bernie :!:

That's the funniest thing about it. They DON'T glow. Only under specific light conditions. Ie, its like neon paint on a wall glowing under a black light.

The folks from 5D instructed us that the "optimum" conditions for viewing
were under "light" colored gravel and with an "actinic" light; however that
the current version of "glofish" were supposed to have been "enhanced" to
allow for GOOD viewing under "AVERAGE LIGHTING" conditions. Which was
the only reason I even made any attempt to stock these things.

The photos I took .... had twin bulbs for the Glofish (one bulb actinic, one bulb
reg full spectrum aquar. light)

The neons and others had just ONE bulb.... reg aquar light!

Go figure!!
