Why do i have foamy looking air bubbles on the surface of my tank? And will it hurt my fish?

Does it look soapy or oily? If it looks oily, it's a protein film that comes from stuff like fish food, is it is soapy, that means there's some dissolved solids in your water. The oily stuff is just cosmetic, but I think soapy could be bad, but probably isn't. A picture would help :)

It looks like slick soapy bubbles. I put fish in 4 days ago. Today water has an odor as well. The water had been cloudy but that cleared up today. Now the foam. Have not added any product to the tank. What should I do? I have 5 guppies, 2 swordtails and 1 danio in a 75 gal. They appear to be in good health.

welcome to AA :) Now for 21 questions lol

Did you cycle the tank before you put the fish in? Or are you cycling with the fish? Here are some reads on that just in case : http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forum...-but-i-already-have-fish-what-now-116287.html

When/where did you buy your tank? Did you use any kind of soap to clean anything? Or anything with detergents of any kind? That can be very bad lol. It could just be from surface agitation; mine gets kind of bubbly after a water change too. All my plants get little bubbles on them... but that sounds like a different kind of bubble. +1 on a picture, if you could get one that would be great!
