Top fin filters do NOT like sand. Just sayin'.
In the month or so since I have changed from gravel to sand, my filter has stopped no less than a dozen times. Every single time it does this, I have to unplug it, take it apart, and rinse out the impeller and motor. Ive woken up a few times and thought "Wow, its really quiet in .... oh, poo." Even when it *is* working again... its really noisy now!
I think, once I have money again, I may invest in another Aqua Clear filter... Maybe Ill go with the 110 this time.... My Aqua Clear 70 has yet to have an issue in my other tank! Or, since my tank is a 55 long, I will put to AC 50s on it, one on either side....
