Will the outflow of an Eheim 2217 canister filter, near water surface, be enough for

Water aeration and oxygen?

Or will I need to add the wave maker too?

Im setting up new tank. Putting all equipment in tank.

I prefer not to add the wavemaker if possible, as tank looks neater, but not sure if cichlids will gasp at surface because not enough oxygen.

Any help greatly appreciated.

The only way to know for sure is to try.

My eheim canister didnt make enough for my tank, but they are all different

Just an update cause i know so many were curious lol

After installing tank, the eheim 2217 did not create any surface agitation as the outlet pipe was too deep into tank, and I wasnt using spraybar. So I just installed the wavemaker. Works good now.
