Hmm check online/yellow pages for glass/window designers/repairmen. If not you can drill yourself with a drill press you can rent. Or you can buy the bit for a hand drill.... Safest bet is to get a pro to do it though.

So I'm trying to put a list together on what I'm going to need for this tank. As far as size of skimmer, power heads and how many and so on. I was thinking ok black sand base, any thoughts? And the tank stand has a really sturdy base that has a lot of brasses under it so I'm going to be limited on the size of sump going under there. Any input would be great!!
Forgot to add, tank dimensions are 60" long 18" wide 20" deep

Hey there,
I'm following your thread because I can tell this is gonna be cool
The background came out nice!
Unfortunately, I won't be able to help with anything though, as I'm strictly a freshie. I guess I'm just in it for the pretty pictures!

That tank looks brand new!
As for a skimmer, get one that skims more than 100G, and for the sump get as big a tank as you can fit in there, all the space you can get for stuff.
Black sand sounds good if you get some nice bright lights with good color. What are you thinking of getting? Since the center brace will be hard to penetrate through.

That's an excellent question. I have a 30g long tank I was thinking of a DIY sump but I'm not sure yet. I was actually going to ask about the black sand. I've been reading up on it and it says that with black sand you need to supplement for alk, ph and so on. Is this true? As far as the skimmer I was looking at a 225g skimmer AND the tank is new! He never even used it! $200! So lucky!

Wow! Then the $200 pickup for the tank and stand was like you might as well have stolen it from them!
That skimmer size sounds good for your tank as well. As far the black sand needing supplements I'm not so sure, I've never heard it before but hey, try PMing FishGuy2727, he has a reef with black sand. I know he uses Estes sand though

So I just talked to the only aquarium specialist in my area and he says he won't drill tanks. How can I get an overflow box on the tank? All I have seen are for a conventional glass tank edge
