when to add more ammonia?

on march 1st i added enough ammonia to get me to 4ppm. right now i am at .5-1ppm of ammonia, 1pp nitrite, and 40 nitrates. earlier (around 2 oclock eastern) i was at 2ppm ammonia, 1 nitrite, and 10 nitrates. when should i add more ammonia to keep the cycle going?

without food bacteria starts to die, so you want to make sure you have enough ammonia in your tank to keep all that wonderful bacteria alive.
