Just making sure. I've ordered everything for the fish tank, and this will be the first time I going to try a "fishless cycle."
 
I've never used it as Ace hardware doesn't exsist around me, but I know of other members that have used it with great success. Just make sure there is no soap additives in it listed.

I'm about to start a fishless cycle tomorrow for a new planted tank. Should I do the raw shrimp thing, plus ammonia, or what? Will i need to add plants right off the bat?
 
The ammonia can be measured and is a little more controllable imo. It's the route I chose and I cycled in 16 days. I also used sludge from my established tank as well as fliter media. I think that made alot of difference.
