I'm wanting to create a moss wall and I saw someone had suggested once of Nylon Screening that is easily found in hardware stores.

My question is: is it safe? What should I look for in harmful things for an aquarium if I choose not to use this?

I don't know if that has holes large enough. You should consider something like "eggcrate" which is used to diffuse light in overheard lighting. The moss will attach to that.

Most moss walls that I've seen are made out of plastic craft mesh they sell it in 4-6 packs of squares in any craft store. Safe for your tanks too.

I agree. You could also try chicken wire too.
