quick answer nope you can get things like quickstart if freshwater. if saltwater if you put live sand and rock in yup cycle else put in water conditioner add 1-2 fish every couple weeks and you'll be fine. i never in 20 plus years cycled freshwater tanks never had a issue. saltwater i cycle because i add live sand and live rock an live rock will throw your tank a powerfull punch. because stuff will die off on that during transport.

if you had the tank stocked for more then 1 or 2 months then you did cycle the tank.
