Filter question

How often should I rinse/ squeeze out my filter sponge? I know to do it in "old" tank water when doing a PWC but am I losing too much BB when II squeeze and swish till the bucket water is really filthy and the water drips look clean from the sponge?

I usually clean mine when I start to notice te flow slowing from my outputs maybe once a month or once every two months...... I think it was two months before I cleaned my filters this time
