I have a 10 gal with a ph of 8. I'm getting a 125 gal in a couple weeks. It seems that all of the fish I want to put in it want 7 or lower. What is the best way to lower ph and why is it not a good idea to use ph down?

Thanks

Driftwood and peat are the most natural way. Fish can adjust to a stable ph level. If your ph fluctuates that's when problems can arise.

Unless the fish you want are very delicate, they should adjust to your pH fine. It's always best not to play with the pH in case it fluctuates.

Ok thanks I guess I will leave it alone. I will have a couple of pieces of driftwood in the tank but I will probably soak it first so it doesnt discolor the water so it probably won't help the ph.
