I have 20 gallon tank and got a 40 about a month ago. I need help on how to transfer fish over. In my 40 I have 0 ammonia and nitrite and have 5 ppm nitrates. It's been like this since last week and did a few water changes. And just needed help on how to transfer fish without any deaths. Replying would be greatly appreciated!

Think of it as doing a 50% WC. Take the fish, filter, media, and whatever else you want to move and put them in the 40. Then add 20 gallons of water and treat for 40 gallons. If you have two separate filters, run each of them alongside each other. Always keep your good media wet to prolong the life of the BB. Both my experience and opinion.

Put all the tank water from the 20 in your forty then fill the rest up with conditioned water move filter over to forty flat your fish in it and your food
