Hey there everyone,

Just a few questions trying to see if my results are irregular.

My tank is mid cycle but I am experiencing rising ammonia.levels and constant nitrate....

.75 ammonia and 5 nitrate is everything okay with that?

55 gall
4 serpae.tetra
4 neon barbs

70 gallon filter and.30 gallon filter

No, that level of ammonia is too high for fish. I would do 50% water changes until you get it to at least .25.

+1 to above

You want to always keep ammonia below .25 (PPM) when cycling with fish, ammonia is very very toxic even in small amounts.

The waste from the fish builds up in the water but your beneficial bacteria can't consume it fast enough right now. If you're asking for a more specific reason I can't really say because I'm not sure what you've done. If you have recently added more fish or if you feed more than the fish can eat in a couple minutes you could see a spike in ammonia. I like to feed my fish small amounts 3 times a day to avoid overfeeding them.
