So I've got my tank decorated got my filter coming in tomorrow and bought all other necessary items. I plan to fill and start my water cycle soon. I could use some advice on the best way to introduce ammonia to the tank for the cycling process. Some people I've heard use fish food others straight ammonia from a bottle. What is the best way to go about this? I plan to do a fishless cycle.

There isnt a definitive answer on whats the best way. There are many ways to do this and different people will give you different answers on whats best.

I use an aquarium specific ammonium chloride product as an ammonia source. There are a few brands. I use Dr Tims Ammonium Chloride.

A cocktail shrimp is often used. This will give a steady flow into the water, rather than a daily dose.

I would go with one of these methods.
