i have a yellow Seriatopora sp (bird's nest). Its tip as usual are all brighter coloration which almost white, and the yellowish "skin" suround the skele everywhere else except the tip.
Today I saw one of tip extended itself(the area of the white color increased) and I am just wondering if the skele is dying(bleaching) or is it just how SPS grow?
I am kinda new to SPS so wish to gather some info on how they actrually grow?I was hoping the white thing is just the normal extend of its main skele and the yellow skin might grow to the top to cover the extra white area.
PS:by white i mean really light yellowish color).
Calcium is at 470, PH is between 8.2-8.3
It is right under the 175w 14000k MH (new )

Thanks for the help.

You got a pic?

It sounds normal to me. Where growth is taking place on SPS the tips are usually white looking. For caps, the outer edges are white.

I'm not sure by what you mean when you said " saw one of tip extended itself"

When you start to see tissue flaking off than you've got a problem.
Here is an article about SPS diseases. http://www.reefs.org/library/talklog/eb_jl_111598.html
