I’ve just inherited a tank of cichlids from my recently passed father and am quite new to fish care. I’m concerned that the tank has become overcrowded as the fish have grown since he originally got them. There are 8 fish in a 35 gallon tank and I fear that two in particular are being bullied.

Their tails are shortened quite a bit and I’m not sure if it’s due to nipping or fin rot? Any advice would be welcome! My father really loved these fish and I want to do right by him and them.

Thank you!

It looks like nipping more than rot. Rot usually comes with a white tinge around the affected area. The tank might be overstocked. I've not had cichlids so I don't know proper stocking.
You could either try to sell the 2 being bullied or put extra hiding spots in for them.
Either way keeping the water pristine will help
